We focus on the GREAT (Green Research for Environmental and Agricultural Technologies) to realize circular and net-zero economy system. Our main research themes include (1) circular economy technology R&D, (2) carbon dioxide removal, (3) system modelling such as life cycle assessment, and (4) watershed water quality management. Our group specializes in practical applications of water reuse, biomass conversion, and carbon dioxide capture and utilization, especially via electrochemical technologies, anaerobic technologies, and life cycle assessment. We also collaborate closely with experimental groups around the world, such as the US, South Korea, Japan, India, and Sweden.
Current research topics relate to water technology (selective sorption, electrokinetic separation) and biosolid valorization technology (anaerobic digestion, low-oxygen thermal conversion), as well as healthy watershed practices from scientific aspects (carbon and nutrient cycles) to engineering domain (water quality improvement, carbon farming).
Our lab emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion regardless of nationality, gender, or background. We are currently recruiting young researchers for PhD, Postdoctoral, and short-term intership positions (e.g., 2 months in summer vacation or 1 month in winter vacation).
