Green Research for Environmental and Agricultural Technologies (GREAT)

Theme 1: Circular Technologies for Water and Resource Recovery

  • Electrodialysis-Based Separation for Water and Resource Recovery.
  • Enhanced Organic Matter Recovery from Piggery Wastewater.
  • Synthesis of Ionically Conductive Materials for Electrochemical Systems.

Theme 2: Biomass Valorization Technologies

  • Conversion of Organic Biowastes to Biochemicals (or Bioenergy) using Electro-Anaerobic Digestion.
  • Utilization of Anaerobic Digestate for Recovering High Value-Added Products, such as Humus and Nutrients.
  • Electrochemical pH Swing for CO2 Capture and Utilization (e.g., Biogas Upgrading).

Theme 3: Sustainable Agro-Soil-Water Environment and Management

  • Monitoring and Tracing of Heavy Metals in Irrigation Water.
  • Reservoir Water Quality Management in the Face of Global Climate Heating.
  • Monitoring and Assessment of Emerging Compounds (such as microplastics) in Watershed and Soil Systems.

Theme 4: Life-Cycle Perspective for Carbon-Nutrient Cycles

  • Ecosystem Services from a Life-Cycle Perspective (LCA-ES) to Optimizing Food-Energy-Water Nexus.
  • Assessment of Reactive Nitrogen (e.g., ammonia, nitrous oxide) Emissions from soils.
  • Negative Technologies such as Soil Carbon Sinks, Enhanced Weathering Technologies (Carbon Dioxide Mineralization).
