Green Research for Environmental and Agricultural Technologies (GREAT)

Theme 1: Precision (Cascade) Separation for Agricultural Wastewater

  • Deployment of Advanced Electrokinetic Sepration for Agricultural Water Reuse and Valuable Resources Recovery.
  • Deployment of Membrane and/or Adsorption for Enhanced Organic Matter Recovery.
  • Integration of New Materials and System Processes for Water-Energy Optimization.

Theme 2: Biowaste Valorization Technologies

  • Conversion of Organic Biowastes to Biochemicals through Different Approaches, such as Electrofermentation, Anaerobic Digestion and Pyrolysis.
  • Utilization of Anaerobic Digestate for Recovering High Value-Added Products, such as Humus and Nutrients.
  • Development of Enhanced Carbon Sinks in Soils using Green Materials.

Theme 3: Agro-Soil-Water Ecosystem Services

  • Assessment of Ecosystem Services from a Life-Cycle Perspective (LCA-ES) to Optimizing Food-Energy-Water Nexus.
  • Sustainable Reservoir (Water Resource) Management in the Face of Global Climate Heating.
  • Monitoring, Control and Assessment of Micro-plastics in Watershed and Soil Systems.

Theme 4: Carbon-Nutrient Cycles

  • Assessment of Reactive Nitrogen (e.g., ammonia, nitrous oxide) Emissions from soils.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of Soil Carbon Sinks.
  • Development of Enhanced Weathering Technologies (Carbon Dioxide Mineralization).
