Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The ocean holds a strong attraction for human societies, with nearly 40% of the world’s population living less than 100 km from the coast and most of the world’s big cities built on the edge of the ocean, according to the UN Atlas of the Oceans. The 14th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN focuses on the ocean. Utilizing energy sources from the ocean (so-called blue energy) is becoming a promising candidate for the self-powered sustainable development of human society. To achieve the wide application of blue energy, the development and synthesis of the advanced materials, e.g., bio-based materials and novel membranes, for harvesting the energy potentials from the ocean is quite imperative and essential.
This Special Issue collects research articles and critical reviews on scientific and technical information on the recent advances in advanced materials and technological devices for achieving sustainable power generations. The primary areas of interest of this Special Issue include but are not limited to: (1) the development of high technological skills for achieving sustainable power generation; (2) conversion of cheap and abundant carbon materials and beyond for practical utilization of devices; (3) identification of optimized configurations for low-grade energy; (4) deployment of smart technologies for monitoring, control, and assessment of environmental quality; (5) utilization of high-efficiency systems used for harvesting blue energy toward a better world.
