The 2025 Bio Asia Taiwan was held from July 24 to 27 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. National Taiwan University (NTU), together with National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, Chang Gung University, Ming Chi University of Technology, NTU Hospital, and the NTU SPARK Office, hosted a joint exhibition under the theme “Driving Innovation Forward: Advancing Smart Biotech Solutions”. The pavilion showcased a diverse range of topics, including AI analysis of medical images, smart medical device development, regenerative medicine, and new drug discovery etc. It fully presented the R&D chain, from basic research to clinical application and industrial translation, reflecting NTU’s key role in the biotechnology innovation ecosystem.
At the opening ceremony of NTU Pavilion on July 24, Professor Chung-Chih Wu, Director of the Industry Liaison Office and Vice President of the Office of Research and Development, NTU, said, “With the rapid advancement of AI, big data, advanced materials, and precision medicine, the biotech industry is entering a new era of deep technological integration.” Executive Vice President Shan-Chwen Chang also emphasized that, in the face of global aging populations and growing public health challenges, the biotech industry has become a strategic priority for countries worldwide. He stated, “The academic community is not only a cradle for nurturing talent, but also a driving force for innovation. NTU has long invested in interdisciplinary education and the development of startup teams. Now, by leveraging cross-school platforms to integrate resources and expertise from multiple universities, we can help Taiwan shine even brighter on the global biotech stage.”
During the four-day exhibition, the NTU Pavilion featured not only displays of research achievements but also 18 technical presentations and networking sessions. The events drew enthusiastic engagement, with several companies expressing strong interest and willingness to explore collaboration. Through its participation in Bio Asia Taiwan, NTU not only showcased its cutting-edge research and innovation capabilities but also further expanded its opportunities for international exchange and cooperation.
