National Taiwan University Participated the 2023 Healthcare Expo Taiwan. "Precision Medicine, Cutting-edge Medical Technology, Metaverse Technology" Three Focuses Leading Industry-Academia Collaboration and Research Development!

The 2023 Healthcare Expo Taiwan took place from November 30 to December 3 at the Nangang Exhibition Center. The National Taiwan University showcased 28 research teams within the topics of "Precision Medicine, Cutting-edge Medical Technology, Metaverse Technology.", bringing together professionals from industry, government, and academia to foster new developments in the medical industry.

The teams of National Taiwan University were led by the Global Industry Platform Platform (T5GIP, composed of National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, Chang Gung University, and Ming Chi University of Technology). 18 research teams were brought from National Taiwan University and Ming Chi University of Technology, fostering diverse and cross-school collaborations with National Taiwan University Hospital. The exhibited projects aligned with the three main themes, showcasing technologies such as AI-based precise scanning, interpretation, and prediction; research trends in smart devices for remote and personalized healthcare; rapid testing-oriented models to streamline examination procedures; and innovation in high-end medical materials driven by new technologies. The interdisciplinary links displayed the infinite potential for the future of Taiwan's medical industry, aiming to consolidate advanced industry-academia strength and continuously nurture Taiwan's medical ecosystem.

A special focus of National Taiwan University was showcasing the topic on Metaverse Technology. Teams from National Taiwan University and National Taiwan University Hospital incorporated Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies to meet research and clinical needs. This included rapid diagnosis and analysis of disease images, virtual applications for remote treatment, and model training for disease risk assessment. Technology served as a medical assistant, providing more effective assistance and evaluation for patients in terms of data aggregation and diagnostic decisions. In precision medicine, research on personalized cell therapy aimed to provide tailored treatment for patients, heralding a new era of personalized precision medicine. The National Taiwan University Hospital also introduced the "Personal Health Record and Disease Risk Analysis Platform," using wearable and mobile devices to collect personal health data, combining it with health examination data to establish personal health records. Utilizing big data and artificial intelligence machine learning, they constructed models for predicting the risks of chronic diseases. In the field of cutting-edge medical technology, next-generation sequencing addressed challenges in drug-gene identification, integrating smart medication into the National Taiwan University Hospital electronic medical record medical decision support system. Additionally, the development of a smart gene mutation interpretation system, combining machine learning and clinical research, aimed to enhance the precise diagnosis of genetic and challenging diseases.

 

 

The National Taiwan University showcased a variety of innovations at the 2023 Healthcare Expo Taiwan, providing an opportunity for research teams to engage closely with the public and understand market needs. Through this four-day event and interactions with various experts and scholars, NTU aimed to contribute to the creation of a thriving ecosystem for Taiwan's medical industry, characterized by continuous growth and positive cycles.
