簡歷：
孫震先生，字伯東，山東省平度縣人，民國23年（1934）11月生，本校經濟學系畢業，美國奧克拉荷馬大學哲學博士、本校經濟學系名譽教授。曾任教於本校經濟學系、曾任行政院經濟建設委員會副主任委員、本校第8任校長（民國73年8月至82年2月）、國防部長、行政院政務委員、工業技術研究院董事長。
Curriculum Vitae:
President Sun was born in 1934 in Shandong Province. He is an economist, philosopher, as well as educator. In addition to his academic role, Sun was appointed into the government on various occasions, including to serve as minister of the Ministry of National Defence. As the first NTU alumnus to have served as NTU president, President Sun reinforced the University’s motto of “Integrity, Diligence, Fidelity, and Compassion,” the motto that was taken from former President Ssu-Nien Fu’s inspiring 1949 University Anniversary Address. He also advocated for “education as a means to serve society” in the hopes to enhance the University’s research abilities through reinforcing academic requirements and encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities. Moreover, Sun continued to sustain the University’s foundation of academic independence during the nation’s social and political transition into a liberal and democratic country.
治校理念：
首位校友出任之校長，除重視「敦品勵學，愛國愛人」之校訓外，另提出「發揚學術服務社會」之願景，希望達到「加強學術研究」，「提高課業要求」，「鼓勵課外活動」，「強化行政體系」等治校目標，在臺灣逐漸開放的政治、社會環境下，維持校內獨立、自主的學術環境。
Philosophy of Governance:
As the first alumnus to serve as president, he not only upheld the University motto of “Integrity, Diligence, Fidelity, and Compassion,” but also proposed the vision of "Promoting Academics to Serve Society." His goals for governance were to "Strengthen Academic Research," "Raise Academic Requirements," "Encourage Extracurricular Activities," and "Reinforce the Administrative System." He maintained the University's independent and autonomous academic environment amidst Taiwan's gradually liberalizing political and social environment.
