虞兆中

簡歷：
虞兆中先生，字星拱，江蘇省宜興縣人，民國4年(1915) 2月生，卒於民國103年（2014）5月。曾任教南京中央大學，臺灣大學土木工程學系系主任、工學院院長，本校第7任校長 (民國70年8月至73年7月)，中華民國力學學會理事長、中央研究院評議會評議員、臺灣中國工程師學會理事長。
Curriculum Vitae:
Born in 1915 in Jiangsu Province, President Yu was a scholar in civil engineering and mechanics. President Yu reinforced the concept of the University’s autonomy and independence in both governance and the academics. Yu was an advocate of liberalism as he stressed the importance of respecting the student’s independent development, as well emphasizing that the university’s education should be an educational as well as moral one.

Philosophy of Governance:
His philosophy of governance emphasized a strong liberal view of education, stressing "University Autonomy and Academic Independence," "Respect for the Independent Development of Students," and that "University Education is a Form of Moral Education."
