Congrat to Yi-Ho's article entitled "Systematic approach to source-sink apportionment of copper in paddy fields: Experimental observation, dynamic modeling and prevention strategy" published on J. Hazardous Materials (2021, 417, 126045)
In the first half-year of 2020, we have conducted a field-based research in previously contaminated paddy fields in Taoyuan. The result is published in Journal of Hazardous Materials. This project was initiated because of the continuous accumulation after soil remediation. To untangle the reason and provide useful advice, We studied the environmental samples and concluded that irrigation water is the main source of copper influx. Therefore, we integrated the strategies that might help ameliorate the situation: (1) monitoring and intelligent irrigation system; (2) alternative water-saving strategy (e.g., alternate wet-dry management); (3) Ditch sediment management. These are not new things but the knowledge is not yet integrated to form policies. I would definitely want to contribute more and, hopefully, these will come together someday.
