Overview
 
 The department and the research institute concern the causal factors, mechanisms and control of plant diseases. The department consists of laboratories of Mycology, Disease control, Bacteriology, Virology, Nematology, Physiology of Fungi, Applied Mycology, Disease of Fruit Trees, Forest Pathology, Molecular Plant Pathology, Cell Biology, Molecular Plant Virology, Molecular Biology of Fungi and Environmental Impact Research. The department is well equipped many outstanding research facilities covering all areas of study related to the special interests of its faculty. Those include temperature controlling equipments, sterilizing manipulation equipments, research microscopes, phase contrast-dark field microscope, fluorescent microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, microscopic imaging system, microtome, ultramicrotome, nucleic acid-protein analyzing equipments, ELISA reader, fluorescent spectrophotometer, thermal cyclers, electroporator, pulse field gel electrophoresis apparatus, high-speed centrifuge, ultracentrifuge, speed vacuum dryer, HPLC as well as facilities for cell culture and transformation, sequencing, and fermentation. Growth chambers, greenhouses and animal housing are readily available. Research topics emphasize not only on disease control and management, but also the mechanism and applications of biotechnology and environmental impact.
