簡歷
先生諱思亮，字惠疇，浙江省杭縣人，生於清光緒 33 年 (1908) 12 月 6 日(陽曆 1 月 9日)，卒於民國 72 年 (1983) 9 月 15 日，享年 76 歲，為著名化學家、教育家，美國伊利諾大學哲學博士、榮譽科學博士，曾任北京大學、西南聯合大學教授，本校化學系教授、系主任，本校第 5 任校長 (民國 40 年 3 月至 59 年 5 月)，行政院原子能委員會主任委員，中央研究院評議會評議員、院士、院長。
治校理念
為人融和謙洽，接任後除維持前數任校長奠定的規模與制度，保有自由、獨立的學風外，更在長達十九年的任期間，充分推展其「普遍且均衡發展」的治校理念，使臺大在成為最完備的綜合性大學上奠立了良好的基礎。
President Chien was born in Zhejiang, China in 1908. He was a chemist, philosopher, and educator. President Chien was known as a modest and easy going character. Building on his predecessors’ foundation for a free and autonomous academic environment, Chien promoted a balanced and well-rounded education during the 19 years that he served as president of NTU. It was during Chien’s administration that NTU became the comprehensive university that it is today.
