臺北帝國大學於1928年3月17日創校，正門及守衛所於3年後1931年3月31日竣工、總工程經費：12,549圓（臺灣銀行券）
Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University (TIU) was founded on March 17, 1928. The construction of the front gate and security room were complete three years later on March 31, 1931. Total construction expenses: $12,549 (Taiwan Bank notes).

材質：約3公尺高由唭哩岸石堆砌的堡壘型建物。
Building Material: A three-meter fort-like architecture piled up with Chi-li-an Stones.
題字：為1945年時任教育部長朱家驊墨寶，將「臺北帝國大學」改為「國立臺灣大學」
Inscription: “Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University (TIU)” was changed to “National Taiwan University” in Chinese calligraphy by Jia-Hua Zhu,
the then Minister of Education, in 1945.
門牌故事：日治時期，臺北帝國大學的門牌是富田町46番地，光復之後，門牌更改為新生南路三段89號，且出入口是以羅斯福路為主要出入口，1961年校方為符合事實，去函臺北市政府要求更改門牌為羅斯福路四段1號，後獲允准。
Doorplate Story: During the Japanese colonial period, the doorplate of Taihoku (Taipei) Imperial University (TIU) was No. 46, Tonda-cho. After the retrocession of Taiwan, its doorplate was changed to No. 89, Sec. 3, Xinsheng South Road, but the main entrance was on Roosevelt Road. Therefore, in 1961, NTU wrote a letter to Taipei City Government, requesting for the change of the doorplate to No. 1, Sec. 4, Roosevelt Road, which was later approved.

啟用日：1951年12月20日上午10點敲55響，向為臺大鞠躬盡瘁的55歲傅斯年致敬。
Launch Date: Fu Bell was stricken 55 times at 10AM on December 20, 1951 to pay tribute to Ssu-Nien Fu who spared no effort for NTU and passed away at the age of 55.
