DEGREE REQUIREMENTS



Admission to M.S. Program


Prospective students are required to have a bachelor's degree or possess equivalent qualifications related to polymer science and engineering and
satisfy the following two ways to be accepted to the program:

1. Application

Bachelor degree or equivalent from university or college related to polymer science and engineering with a rank in the top 50% is required. Prospective students must submit a formal application and take an oral exam held in November each year.

2. Entrance Examination

Bachelor degree or equivalent from university or college related to polymer science and engineering is required. The written exam is always held in April.

Requirements for M.S. Program

The M.S. students have to fulfill the following requirements to be awarded a M.S. degree:

1. At least 36 credits including a thesis, seminar, subject research and 24 credits from elective courses are required, among which the Advanced Polymer Chemistry, Advanced Polymer Physics, Polymer Physical Chemistry, Polymer Characterization and Principles of Polymer Processing are core courses. (Approval is required for outside institute courses)
2. The candidate is required to complete a M.S. thesis (6 credits) before graduating.



Admission to Ph. D. Program

Prospective students are required to have a master's degree related to polymer science and engineering and must submit a formal application and take an oral exam held in May each year.

Requirements for Ph.D. Program

The Ph.D. students have to fulfill the following requirements to be awarded a Ph.D. degree:

1. At least 32 credits including a thesis, seminar, subject research and 18 credits from elective courses are required, among which the Advanced Polymer Chemistry, Advanced Polymer Physics, Polymer Physical Chemistry, Polymer Characterization and Principles of Polymer Processing are core courses. (Approval is required for outside institute courses) 
2. The candidate is required to pass the qualify examination by the end of second year. 
3. The candidate is required to complete a Ph. D. thesis (6 credits) and publish at least two scientific papers before graduating. The total SCI impact factor of the papers is at least 3.0. 
4. The candidate is required to pass English Technical Writing course.
