I was surprised when Greg told me that Phalaenopsis hybrids are very popular in New York state. In fact most people here do not really know how to grow a phalaenopsis, but they believe it is the easiest orchid for indoors and it blooms all year round. I know the plant is confused by the cool and dry environment. As a result, the plat could not grow new leaves and roots but keep blooming until it exhausts itself. To grow this one in my place with other Phaphiopedilums and Miltonia, I used a lamp to give it some extra heat to maintain a mimumum vegetative growth. However, it still won't stop flowering.
