Guidelines for Submissions
1
Humanitas Taiwanica welcomes essays from all disciplines of the humanities:literature, history, philosophy, art, music, theater studies, linguistics, philology, archeology, anthropology, library and information science, and other humanities-related disciplines.
2
Published semiannually (in May and November), Humanitas Taiwanica accepts submissions year-round, and welcomes submissions from scholars in and outside of Taiwan. Submitted manuscripts may not have been previously published elsewhere, including in electronic journals. If the author wishes to submit a manuscript that has been previously presented at a conference, please make sure that the conference organizers have no plans to publish the
conference proceedings. In the event of any violation of academic ethics, such as imultaneous submission of the same manuscript for publication elsewhere or plagiarism, submissions of the same author will not be considered in future. Submissions will undergo a double-blind review process. Please do not include any personal or identifying information of the author in the manuscript. After their papers are published, authors of accepted papers will receive one (1) complimentary copy of the issue their papers have appeared in and fifty (50) complimentary offprints, with no other remuneration for their submissions.
3
The review process for all submissions begins immediately after each submission. All submissions will be reviewed initially by the editorial committee, and then sent to two experts for double-blind review. The editorial committee will make the final decisions based on the comments of the reviewers, and notify the author of the decision. For articles that have passed the review, Humanitas Taiwanica may adjust their time of publication when necessary, according to the number of accepted articles for each issue.
4
Submissions must be in either Chinese or English. Manuscripts of Chinese essays should be 10,000 to 30,000 Chinese characters (as opposed to bytes, inclusive of footnotes and exclusive of bibliography), and manuscripts of English essays should be 15 to 50 typewritten pages (double-spaced). Translations or reviews of important academic works may also be considered, but should be supplemented with critical commentaries and expository
annotations.
5
Should any part of a submission include copyright materials (such as images or quotations exceeding a certain length), please secure written permission from the copyright holder before submission. Copyright permissions are not the responsibility of Humanitas Taiwanica.
6
All submissions should be complete with the following information in both Chinese and English: title, abstract (no more than 300 Chinese characters or one page of English as with the page layout of the journal), and keywords (no more than five each). Please be sure to format submissions according to the “Style Guide.” Please format submissions in English according to The Chicago Manual of Style.
7
Prior to the submission, please fill out the “Contributor Information Form” available for download at the journal’s Webpage, and send it by mail along with the submission.
8

Submissions should include three hard copies and an electronic version of the article in Word or pdf format. Please be advised that the submitted copies will not be returned.
