I am an associate professor at Department of Library and Information Science at National Taiwan University and the Director of Talent empowerment Center at National Institute of Cyber Security. I am also an affiliated researcher at National Taiwan University (courtesy appointments). I completed my PhD studies at the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh. To date, my work aims to comprehend the concept of open science especially in three perspectives: 1) data accessibility and sharing, 2) research transparency and reproducibility, and 3) participatory science. Given the increasing need in academic communities to manage a huge amount of data, my long-term research goal is to provide insights on improving research data infrastructure for scholars in all disciplines, particularly health science and humanities.

Recently I am interested in helping non-CS scholars and students, especially people from business, behavioral, social sciences, and humanities, to take full advantage of their digital data. I had led several one-time data visualization workshops for different programs at National Taiwan University.

DxLab @NTU is a research group that conducts projects focusing on open science practices as well as the social aspects of data science. Researchers in DxLab are actively working on various innovative topics including discipline research data infrastructure (e.g., humanities, criminology), health data economics, and citizen science data management.

Our recent work has been collected in the technical report "Open science in Taiwan: Data practices and research data infrastructure" (臺灣開放科學研究成果彙編:研究者資料實踐與研究資料基礎建設). [pdf] The report sums up our research on the realm of open science from 2018 to 2023 from two National Science Council grants in Taiwan: “Toward research data infrastructure: Exploring data sharing and its scholarly impact in humanities and social science” and " Open science for sustainability: co-design in strengthening reproducibility of scientific results”

This report, written, compiled, and edited by the DxLab, covers two themes: 1) open research data sharing and 2) research transparency, with the overarching goal of promoting "Open Science for Sustainability." These practices also seek to facilitate dialogue between academic communities and the broader society, as well as between natural and social sciences. The goal is to ensure that scientific research is accessible, transparent, reproducible, ultimately contributing to evidence-based decision-making for both policymakers and citizens, addressing societal challenges, and making scientific knowledge open to the broader public for a more sustainable future.
