Research Interests

The fluid flows in close proximity to the air-sea interface control the exchanges between the atmosphere and the ocean, such as gases, heat, vapor and momentum.  The scales of these flows, including wave motions and turbulence, are in general very small compared to the size of the ocean.  The processes within this surface layer, however, can profoundly affect the large scale geophysical fluid flows.  My research in recent years focuses on developing numerical models to simulate these flow processes, and applying these models to study the micro-physics of air-sea interactions and their potential impact on a global scale.

Some surface signatures of natural flows
