本賽會起源於民國77年6月本校所舉辦的「北區大專院校手球邀請賽」，隔年即擴大邀請全國大專院校參賽，更名為「臺灣大學手球邀請賽」。
而因應國際化趨勢，擴展大學生的國際視野與促進身心健康，培養未來優秀領導菁英人才，從86年開始邀請國外大學參賽，同時更名為「沈赫哲盃臺灣大學手球邀請賽」。
至93年更改為每兩年舉辦一次，於95年定名為「臺灣大學國際手球邀請賽」。
本賽會設有學生組及校友組，提供學生極佳之國際交流學習機會，且為在校生與畢業校友學習聯絡的園地。 參加的大學，主要來自日本、新加坡、中國、香港、澳門。近年也提供名額給俱樂部球隊參賽，如在新加坡和上海工作的歐洲人亦曾組隊來參加校友組的比賽。
今年除了以往參賽的國家外，預計增加邀請義大利、德國、越南和泰國的大學參加本次盛會，而校友組增加女子校友組，以及男子39歲以上、31歲以上和不限年齡三組。 我們更將邀請多國的大學冠軍隊參賽，歡迎各界朋友蒞臨指導。

The tournament began with the “North Area University Handball Invitational Tournament” in June 1988. A year later, we expanded the tournament, renamed as "National Taiwan University Handball Invitational Tournament", and invited all universities in Taiwan to participate in it. In line with the trend of globalization, we hoped to cultivate outstanding future leaders by expanding students’ international perspective. Therefore, in 1997, we started to invite overseas universities to the tournament and change its name to “Shen He Zhe Cup National Taiwan University Handball Invitational Tournament.” Since 2004, the tournament is held every two years instead. In 2006, the tournament was officially named “National Taiwan University International Handball Invitational Tournament.”
In this tournament, we categorize participants into Student Team and Alumni Team. We provide excellent international exchange opportunities for students. It is also a good chance for students and alumni to communicate and learn from each other. The participating universities are mainly from Japan, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Macao. In recent years, we also invite club teams to join us. For example, a club formed by Europeans in Singapore and Shanghai once participated in the Alumni Team.
In addition to past participants, we expect to invite universities in Italy, Germany, Vietnam, and Thailand to participate in the tournament this year. We sincerely welcome your participation.

#膳食#
臺灣大學校園內有多處餐廳，如女九、小福，相較校園外圍便宜，鹿鳴廣場亦有許多餐飲及商場。 新生南路上及巷弄內亦有許多具有特色的餐廳可以選擇。 綜合體育館距離師大夜市與公館商圈，步行約12-15分鐘左右。

公 車：分兩段或三段票，每段票價15元。
捷 運：基本費20元。捷運票價圖。臺大綜合體育館鄰近「台電大樓」站
計程車：起程70元(1.25公里)；續程5元(每200公尺)；延滯計時5元(時速5公里以下，累計1分20秒)。 夜間加成：自夜間11時起至翌晨6時止(遇跨夜間加成時段之情形，統一以「上車時間」為準)，除依上述計價方式收費外，每旅次並加收20元。

#Meal#
There are several restaurants in our campus. For example, 9th Women's Dorm Restaurant and Xiao-Fu Food Services. There are also many restaurants and shops in Lu Ming Square. Most of them are cheaper than the restaurants outside the campus.
Besides them, there are also many unique restaurants on the Xinsheng South Road. Shi-Da Night Market and Gongguan Commercial District are 12-15 minute walk from NTU Sports Center.

Bus: one-zone fare or two-zone fare; each zone-fare is NT$15
MRT: NT$20 for basic fare; Taipei MRT Fare Chart; NTU Sports Center is close to G07 Taipower Building Station or G08 Gongguan Station
Taxi: NT$70 for the first 1.25 km; NT$5 for extra additional 200m; NT$5 for every 80 seconds at a speed under 5km/h; The late night surcharge remains at NT$20 from 23:00 to 06:00 for each journey.
