Welcoming Lorenzo Guglielmi from the University of Pisa through the ONAOSI Exchange Program

This summer our group had the pleasure of welcoming Lorenzo, a student from the University of Pisa (Italy). His visit was part of a short exchange program organized by the ONAOSI association, through which a small group of Italian students joined NTU to work with different research supervisors.

Lorenzo did an excellent job taking care of a new piece of equipment recently arrived in our lab for the characterization of photodetectors. He spent a lot of time liaising with the equipment manufacturer to clarify technical details, and built up valuable know-how on how to optimize the machine’s operation — knowledge that will be a great asset to the rest of the group in future experiments.

PI Attends Gordon Research Conference on Electronic Processes in Organic Materials

Dr Chiara Labanti recently attended the Gordon Research Conference on Electronic Processes in Organic Materials, held July 5-10, 2026 at the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort in Lucca, Italy, where she had the pleasure to meet many leaders in the organic electronics field. She is humbled to learn about the rising directions in the field, spanning from bioelectronics, to computing, to advanced materials characterization.

PI Attends International Industry-Academia Collaboration Symposium at Ming Chi University of Technology

Dr Chiara Labanti attended the International Industry-Academia Collaboration Symposium on the Development of Hybrid Electronic Devices, held on April 23, 2026 at Ming Chi University of Technology. The event brought together researchers from across Asia and Europe to exchange the latest advances in perovskite and organic electronics, covering a broad range of applications including light-emitting devices, memristors, and solar cells. A particular highlight was the opportunity to connect with Prof. Koen Vandewal (Hasselt University, Belgium), whose inspiring talk on pushing the limits of organic materials for infrared photodetection opened stimulating discussions directly relevant to the group’s ongoing research.

Dr Labanti Awarded the Garmin Scholar Fellowship 2025

Dr Chiara Labanti has been awarded the Garmin Scholar Fellowship 2025, in recognition of her “unwavering devotion to education and research”. She is deeply grateful to Garmin for their continued commitment to promoting scientific advancement and supporting early-career academics.

Following the award, Dr Labanti was honoured to be invited to visit Garmin’s headquarters, where she had the opportunity to explore the company’s state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to the design and development of their latest high-tech products. The visit also included an insightful discussion with Vice President Chih-Wei Liao, who shared reflections on Garmin’s remarkable history and its ambitious vision for the future.
