I specialize in applying artificial intelligence to medical imaging, bioinformatics, and smart manufacturing. My expertise lies in designing diagnostic models and predictive systems that integrate deep learning, clinical knowledge, and imaging principles, aiming to develop AI solutions that are both accurate and biologically meaningful. In the field of smart manufacturing, I also have hands-on experience integrating vision models into machine tools and robotic arms, effectively bridging algorithms with real-world operational workflows.

Work Experience

Research Associate

Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core Lab, NTU Center of Genomics and Precision Medicine

Responsible for developing AI programs in the fields of medical imaging and bioinformatics, providing consulting on model architecture design, writing research proposals for the NSTC, and coordinating external collaborations. Also involved in mentoring master's students, guiding their experiments and research, and leading lab members in public competitions to enhance the team's practical and research capabilities.

Department of Nuclear Medicine, Tungs' Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital

Designed preprocessing pipelines for SPECT bone metastasis images, developed image segmentation and lesion detection frameworks, authored academic papers and final reports, and participated in frontend web development and visualization of research outcomes.

Research Assistant

Department of Dermatology, An-Nan Hospital

Focused on preprocessing dermoscopic images and developing classification models. Designed a research framework incorporating self-supervised learning and a two-stage supervised strategy to enhance model performance with limited labeled data. Integrated attention mechanisms into the YOLOv11 architecture to improve diagnostic accuracy and inference efficiency on edge devices. Also contributed to manuscript writing and developed an interactive clinical web platform.

Research Assistant

Department of Radiology, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital

Developed preprocessing pipelines and diagnostic models for chest X-ray classification across four categories: viral pneumonia, bacterial pneumonia, SARS-CoV-2 infection, and normal. Integrated attention mechanisms into YOLOv8 to optimize performance on low-resource devices and improve diagnostic accuracy. Also assisted with manuscript preparation and frontend development of a clinician-friendly web system.

Research Assistant

Department of Radiation Oncology, China Medical University Hospital

Led two major projects. The first involved building a smart diagnostic system and database for lung nodules based on the Taiwanese population, utilizing attention mechanisms and multimodal models for classification. The second focused on survival analysis and prediction in esophageal cancer, integrating ten years of clinical radiotherapy and cancer registry data to identify key risk factors and develop interpretable machine and deep learning models to support treatment decision-making.

Served as lead developer and algorithm designer for Prof. Chien-Yueh Lee's NSTC project. Designed deep learning models and developed a microRNA target prediction system by integrating high-throughput biological data and constructing neural networks to identify miRNA-target interactions. Built a database and visualization interface to enhance usability and interpretability. Also contributed to metagenomics-based atherosclerosis risk prediction using 16S rRNA V3V4 sequencing, applying image transformation and CNNs to improve diagnostic accuracy and generalization.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Chin-Yi University of Technology

Worked under Prof. Kai-Jung Chen on deep learning model development in smart manufacturing and biomedical signal analysis. Projects included preprocessing and feature extraction for acoustic emission and sound signals, optimization of CNC parameters, wafer defect detection, and tool wear prediction. Also contributed to biomedical projects such as liver elasticity modeling for alcoholic hepatitis and ophthalmic image diagnosis systems, and was responsible for writing papers, presentations, and research proposals.

Participated in the development and testing of a visual system for robotic laser engraving feeders. Designed deep learning models for part status and keypoint detection, aligned image and robotic coordinate systems, and deployed models into robotic control systems. Optimized model performance for edge deployment and created corresponding frontend interfaces.

Completed clinical rotations in diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine.
