My research group, Global Dynamics and Climate Change Laboratory, focuses on understanding global atmospheric dynamics and its interactions with clouds, continents, aerosols, water vapor, and ocean.

We attempt to understand factors and mechanisms shaping the climate zones. For example:

  1. -What factors control the intensities and the locationc of the tropical rain belt and midlatitude stormtracks?

  2. -How would subtropical deserts change in the future?

At present, we are actively researching topics involving:

  1. -the effects of ocean dynamics and ocean heat uptake on tropical climate change

  2. -the coupling relationships between clouds and Hadley and Walker circulations

  3. -the causes and impacts of El Nino like warming pattern in tropical Pacific under climate change
