課程大綱及授課單元:
科學與哲學同為人類文明的重要內容,在西方傳統裏有密不可分的關係。
許多重要的哲學家,如亞里斯多德、笛卡兒、萊布尼茲、康德等同時也是科學家。
因著二十世紀科學的突飛猛進,更增添科學哲學的重要性。本課程將引領學生了解基本的科學哲學概念與議題。
如:科學與哲學如何彼此影響、科學與世界觀的互動、科學解釋的模型、因果律的本質、科學革命的結構,
經驗觀察和實驗在科學理論裏的地位,科學實在論與反實在論之爭等。

課程目標:
1. 引領學生了解並思考科學哲學的基本概念與議題。
2. 提昇學生哲學閱讀及寫作能力。
課程要求:
1. Students are required to finish the weekly reading assignment before each class.
You will spend significant time in reading and thinking. You are expected to make efforts to read the texts closely, write clearly, and think through the problems. Hopefully, your efforts will be intellectually rewarding.
2.Those who miss either 3 classes, 3 assignments, Mid-term Exam, or Final Exam will be failed.
成績評量:
1.Participation: 10%
2. Homework: 40%
3. Mid-term Exam: 20%
4. Final Exam: 30%
