    Metal cyclopropenyl complexes could be obtained by deprotonation reaction of the readily accessible metal vinylidene complex containing a -CH2R group bound to Cβ of the vinylidene ligand.  Various substituents at the sp3 carbon of the three-membered ring govern the reactivity of metal cyclopropenyl complexes toward TMSN3.  When R = CN group, the reaction of metal cyclopropenyl complex with TMSN3 give the tetrazolate complex which proceed through N-coordinated nitrile intermediate.

 

   Metal azirinyl complexes could be prepared by deprotonation reactions of metal isocyanide complexes.  Facile insertion of a carbonyl group of ketone, aldehyde, ester, and amide into the metal-bound azirinyl ring to give oxazolinyl complexes followed a different regiospecificity from that in photolytic organic azirine systems.

　

Recently, we reported a novel intramolecular and irreducible transformation of the vinylidene ligand involving metathesis of the C=C double bond of the vinylidene ligand and a terminal vinylgroup tethered on the ligand.

　

An efficient method was developed for the preparation of a series of metal Schiff base complexes.  Introduction of a pyridyl group as a bridging unit as well as incorporation of ethynyl and electron-donating groups into the salicylidene moiety of these complexes moderately enhance the photoluminescence intensity and quantum yield.  Electron-rich palladium groups possibly influence the photophysical character through the bridging C≡C bond.
