Information for Contributors: Renewed in June 2004 ¢°. Journal of Population Studies is a biannual, refereed journal co-published by the Population and Gender Studies Center of National Taiwan University and the Taiwan Population Association, and is devoted to research in the field of population studies. ¢±. Articles are accepted for consideration on the understanding that they are unpublished and are not being submitted elsewhere. ¢². Send two copies as well as a computer disk to ¡§Population and Gender Studies Center, National Taiwan University, 1, Section 4, Roosevelt Rd., Taipei, 106, Taiwan¡¨. ¢³. Manuscript Preparation: ・ Use 12-pt type and double space everything (title page, text, references, endnotes/footnotes, appendices, tables, etc). ・ Use left justification in the text (the right edge is ragged). ・ Number pages, beginning with the title page. ・ Include camera-ready quality copies of all figures, including any submitted on disk.. ・ Submit files in grayscale or bitmap mode unless they are intended to print in color. ・ Should normally not exceed 35 pages (double space) and should be typed in Microsoft Word format. ・ Manuscript submitted for publication should be accompanied by all authors¡¦ affiliations, and abstracts both in English (required) and in Chinese (preferred). (A) Reference and Parenthetical Citations in Text ・ Citations appearing in the text and not enclosed in parentheses should list the date of the work in parentheses following author name(s). . . (Portes 1995; Glenn and Grimes 1968; Massey et al. 1993). ・ For a single work, use a comma between author(s) and the date. ・ Use last names only; no first names or initials. ・ Different publications by the same author(s) appear in chronological order (by year). Do not repeat the name of the author(s). ・ Use commas to separate the dates of different publications by the same author and a semicolon between that author's work and the works of another author. ・ Once a work with three or more authors has been cited in full, subsequent citations should list the first author (no comma) followed by et al.; works with six or more authors follow this convention on first occurrence. ・ Cite a single page number using p. and multiple page n umbers using pp. (e.g., Portes, 1995, pp. 10-12). Put a space between p. or pp. and the number. (B) Reference List and Samples Double space all end references. Alphabetize entries in the same manner as within-text citations (above). The reference list includes only references cited in the text. Do not construct a bibliography. Entries with multiple authors should include the names of all authors in the reference list. Italicize titles, journal names, and volume numbers. Each new entry begins flush left; set subsequent lines with hanging indents. Examples: -- Periodicals Harris, K. (C) Tables and Figures Insert tables and figures in the text. Number tables and figures consecutively. Include a title at the beginning for each table, and a title at the bottom for each figure. Put a full table on a single page using single spacing. Size the figure to be close to its final print size.
