Overview

The Graduate study of the Department operates a special multidisciplinary training program in Molecular Plant Pathology, Plant Medicine, Microbiology, and Biotechnology.

The graduate level of the Department of Plant Pathology offers a 1-4 year program leading to the degree of Master of Agricultural Science. The minimum requirement of credits is 24, plus 6 credits of thesis.
The Doctoral level of the Department of Plant Pathology offers a 2-7 year program leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture. The minimum requirement of credit is 18, plus 12 credits of thesis.
Graduate study is advised by a Committee of faculty members or professional personnel selected by the student/advisor. Students pursuing Ph.D. or M.S. degrees have to conduct their research and write a thesis or dissertation composed of an original contribution to knowledge. The chairperson of the Committee supervises the dissertation or thesis research. With the guidance of the Committee, research degree candidates initiate and pursue their own academic program. The Committee determines what constitutes satisfactory study within that program; involving course work, independent study, teaching experience, research, and examinations. For Ph.D. students, the Committee consists of at least three members; for M.S. students, two members.
