中英文系所特色：
本系是臺灣最大的哲學中心，目前有超過20位教授任教，多位教師在國際知名學府（耶魯大學、柏克萊大學、牛津大學、魯汶大學等）獲得博士學位，教師專長涵括中國哲學、印度哲學與佛學、歐陸哲學和當代英美哲學；尤其在中國哲學方面，本系更是全球的重要哲學研究中心。本系學生非常多樣性，有來自歐、亞、美洲的外籍生和僑生。本系不論教學和研究上，都朝著國際化發展。
Our department, the largest philosophy research center in Taiwan, currently boasts over twenty faculty members, many of whom received their doctorial degrees from internationally renowned universities (including Yale University, UC Berkeley, Oxford University, and the Catholic University of Leuven etc.). The faculty members’ areas of expertise encompass Chinese philosophy, Indian philosophy and Buddhism, Continental philosophy, and contemporary Anglo-American philosophy. In particular, the department is a leading hub of research in Chinese philosophy. Our department includes students from Asia, America and Europe. In both teaching and research, the department takes internationalism as the primary goal. |

1.留學計畫書應以中文親筆手寫，其內容應包括個人簡傳和一般學習目的。
Personal Statement should be handwritten by applicant in Chinese; contents should include a brief personal history and study goals.
2.二千字以上中文專題研究計畫書一篇，內容應含研究動機、研究目的、研究方法等項目。
Research proposal should be written in Chinese (minimum of 2000 characters) and should include research motivation, objectives and methods.

系所附加規定(Additional Requirements)：
1.申請者必須來臺參加筆試和口試。
The applicant must take written and oral examinations in Taiwan.
2.請於2008年4月7日依以下時間地點至本系參加筆試（不另通知）。
The written examination will be held on April 7, 2008. Since no further notification will be sent to the applicants, they are advised to make a note of the following information:
（1）筆試科目及考試時間：
Examination fields and time
（以下兩類組選一組筆試，錄取入學後係依選考之筆試類組分配研讀領域：選考第一類組者就讀東方哲學組；選考第二類組者就讀西方哲學組）：
The applicant must take the written examination on one of the two tracks listed below. Upon admission, the applicant will continue to pursue his/her studies in the same track. Track 1 is Eastern philosophy and Track 2 is Western philosophy.
第一類：Track 1
A. 中國哲學史：上午8：00至10：00
History of Chinese Philosophy: 8：00-10：00AM
B. 中國哲學基本問題：上午10：10至12：10
Fundamental Problems of Chinese Philosophy：10：10 -12：10 AM
第二類：Track 2
A. 西洋哲學史：上午8：00至10：00
History of Western Philosophy: 8：00-10：00AM
B. 邏輯、形上學、倫理學、知識論（四科擇二）：
上午10：10至12：10、下午1：10至3：10
Logic、Metaphysics、Ethics、Epistemology（choose two out of these four subject areas）
10：10-12：10 AM、1：00-3：00 PM
（2）筆試地點：臺灣大學哲學系館一樓會議廳。
Location of written examination: First floor conference room, Department of Philosophy, National Taiwan University.
3.口試訂於2008年4月7日下午舉行，詳細之個人口試時間，請於2008年4月3日起至本系網頁查詢（不另通知）。
The oral examination will be held in the afternoon of April 7, 2008. Each applicant will be assigned a time slot for the examination. Applicants should check the department’s website for the schedule, which will be posted after April 3.
4.口試及審查所需資料（各5份）：
Documents for oral examination and application (five copies of each item):
（1）大學及碩士班歷年成績單正本各5份。
Five copies of original transcripts of undergraduate and graduate courses (must provide Chinese or English translation)
（2）碩士論文5份（碩士論文若非以中文撰寫者，需提供5000字以上之中文摘要）。
Five copies of Master’s thesis (if written in a language other than Chinese, a Chinese abstract of at least 5000 characters should be submitted along with the thesis).
（3）研究計畫5份（請以中文撰寫）。
Five copies of research proposal written in Chinese.
（4）若有其他參考著作亦5份。
Any other materials the applicant wishes to submit (five copies, in Chinese or English).
建議：已經獲得碩士學位者，可優先考慮申請僅需書面資料審查之碩士班。獲准入學後，該生得於次年申請博士班，參加中文筆試與口試。
It is strongly recommend that foreign applicants who already have an M.A. degree but are not proficient in written Chinese should apply in the first instance to the M.A. program since applicants to the Ph.D. program are required to take oral and written examinations in Chinese. An MA student of this kind may then apply to transfer to the Ph.D. program in the following academic year.
