T5GIP Member Universities Showcase and Licensing Patents in Chemical Engineering and Materials, Leveraging Collaborative Research to Drive Industry Advancement

On December 8th, the Global Industry Platform of NTU System (T5GIP), the Industry Liaison Office, and the Center of Industry-Academia Collaboration at National Taiwan University jointly hosted a patent exhibition and technical presentation event centered on chemical engineering and materials. This platform brings together five member universities: National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, Chang Gung University, and Ming Chi University of Technology. Leveraging geographical advantages and complementary expertise, this initiative fosters collaboration across universities, disciplines, and industries. Over the years, these five universities have utilized collaborative patents and technology licensing to assist companies in overcoming challenges in research development and commercialization, driving industrial advancements. They also actively support government startup policies, encouraging research teams to establish new companies, resulting in fruitful achievements. Chung-Chih Wu, VP of the Office of Research and Development, and Director of Industry Liaison Office, NTU, expressed in his opening remarks, "The research and development capacity of universities has been growing steadily, resulting in a considerable number of patents and associated maintenance costs. To effectively utilize these intellectual assets, we organized this event, aiming to facilitate connections between businesses and technology, thereby creating a win-win situation for academia and industry."

In recent years, the chemical engineering and material industry have seen an emergence of talents. Through collaborations in academic research, product development, and interdisciplinary partnerships, the industry has accumulated significant capacity. This event attracted professionals from the industry, patent agents, and investors, providing a platform for members to present the technical features and potential commercial value of their patents. The goal was to facilitate industry-academia collaboration and technology transfer, offering practical applications for innovative research. Furthermore, the event featured three presentations by Professor Lu Chung-Hsin and Professor Hsien-Yeh Chen from the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Professor Hsuen-Li Chen from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University. It is hoped to spark discussions and communications and foster comprehensive plans and strategies in technology development and patents.

This event integrated the strengths of the five universities, showcasing the research capacity and innovative accomplishments in chemical engineering and materials. It also aimed to infuse new vitality into the industry and inspire fresh perspectives. The event was filled with enthusiastic discussions and exchanges, successfully creating more possibilities and opportunities for development and business between academia and industry, enhancing the depth and breadth of industry-academia cooperation and development.
