Publication Ranking Standards for DFLL Faculty Evaluation

Article 1

A work which has won the Distinguished Research Award (傑出研究獎) from the NSC is regarded as two A-Level publications (90 points). The first work is worth 90 points, and each additional work is worth 40 points.

   
Article 2 

Published papers:

(1) 

A paper published in qualified DFLL refereed journals (which have been submitted to and approved by the University) or in SSCI, AHCI, or TSSCI journals is regarded as an A-Level publication, with 20 points given for each additional paper. A paper published in other refereed journals is regarded as a B-Level publication; the first paper is worth 60 points and each additional paper is worth 10 points. A paper published in a non-refereed journal is regarded as a C-Level publication; the first paper is worth 50 points and each additional paper is worth 5 points.

 

NOTES:

1) Accepted but unpublished papers must be published within one year (counting from the date stated on the acceptance letter). Accepted papers will be re-examined next year: If the publications deducting those unpublished journal papers one submits for evaluation in the previous year do not reach the passing grade, the faculty member will be regarded as "FAILING the evaluation."

2) One must provide readers' comments in order to list a journal paper as "B-level."

 

 

(2) 

A paper published in a refereed collection of scholarly papers is regarded as an A-Level publication; the first paper is worth 70 points, and each additional paper is worth 20 points. A paper published in a non-refereed collection is regarded as a B-Level publication; the first paper is worth 60 points and each additional paper is worth 10 points.

 

NOTES:

1) Unpublished book chapters are NOT acceptable and won't be taken into account.

2) One must submit expert's review comments as provided by the publisher in order to list a book chapter as "A-level."

Article 3 

Books:

(1) 

A refereed academic book or a refereed collection of academic papers is regarded as two A-Level publications (90 points); the first book is worth 90 points and each additional book is worth 40 points. A non-refereed book is regarded as an A-Level publication; the first book is worth 70 points and each additional book is worth 20 points.

(2) 

A translation of a literature-related book, which must include a scholarly introduction, is regarded as an A-Level publication; the first translated book is worth 70 points and each additional book is worth 20 points. A collection of creative writings, critical essays, or book reviews is regarded as an A-Level publication; the first collection is worth 70 points and each additional collection is worth 20 points.

Article 4 

Conference Papers:

(1) 

Conference papers can only be listed as "supporting materials," with each item scoring 10 points; Complete text of the delivered paper and the conference agenda must be attached, or the conference paper cannot be considered in scoring. 

(2) 

Proceedings formally published after the meeting (i.e., with ISBN publication number) can be listed as the "representative works": Proceedings published by distinguished academic institutes abroad is regarded as an A-Level publication (70 points), with each additional paper worth 20 points; Other formally published proceedings are regarded as B-Level publications (60 points for the representative work), with each additional paper worth 10 points.

Article 5 

Additional Information:

(1) 

A work submitted in different formats counts as one item only.

(2) 

A doctoral dissertation already reviewed as part of the hiring process cannot be re-submitted for faculty evaluation, nor can a published paper which is based on a chapter or chapters of the dissertation which has already been used. A doctoral dissertation completed after the faculty member is hired will be considered a completed research paper and accepted as an A-level publication worth 70 points.

(3) 

According to the resolution passed by the College of Liberal Arts, textbooks and language-instruction materials are not considered in the evaluation.

(4) 

Only book reviews published in “qualified DFLL refereed journals” or SSCI, AHCI, TSSCI journals can be considered in the evaluation, and they will be listed as "supporting materials" only, with each item scoring 5 points. Other book reviews, creative writings, or short critiques cannot be considered in the evaluation.

Article 6 

If there are any matters not covered by these standards, they should be processed according to the relevant university and collegiate regulations.

Article 7 

These standards must be approved by the DFLL Teachers’ Evaluation Committee. Any revision to these standards will require the same approval procedure.
