本課程延續「社會組織」,從鉅視的角度來檢視組織在現代社會中所扮演的角色及影響。課程目的在於介紹60年代以後歐美組織理論的主流學派,包含結構權變理論、資源依賴理論、交易成本理論、產業組織理論、網絡組織、體制理論、策略管理學派、組織生態學及演化學派等。除了介紹各個理論的思想源流及內容外,課程的重點在於從社會學、經濟學、及管理學三個學門的視角,來比較各學派之間的異同及組織理論的發展變遷。本課程將以現代商業組織為探討的範例,除了理論的訓練外,特別強調實證研究的分析方法。
