摘要 |
Objective: The purpose of this study
was to examine the effects of occupation-based intervention combined with
low-intensity task-oriented training incorporating the tenets of
client-centeredness, task-oriented training, and occupation-as-means to intervention
for patients with dermatomyositis. Methods: All assessments and intervention
sessions were conducted by a licensed occupational therapist at the study site.
Results: The intervention
consisted of 10 treatment sessions. There were no differences from the pre-
to post-intervention on the Barthel Index (BI) and the MRC score. However,
there was a trend for improvement in trunk control and certain basic activities
of daily living. Conclusion: This research paved the
way to evidence-based interventions in occupational therapy for patients with
dermatomyositis. Future research based on a group-design study is needed to
validate the findings of this case study. |
