Educational Goal

    The Institute aims to cultivate the following qualities among our students:

    1. Broad-mindedness toward music through experiences with a variety of musical cultures.
    2. Open-mindedness toward musicology as a study of all music with a variety of methodologies.
    3. Ability to think critically, to ask challenging and interesting research questions, and to carry out original research based on hands-on ethnographical, experimental, documentary, style-analytical, and/or experimental investigations.
    4. Ability to express their thoughts clearly by writing and speaking in their native and possibly second languages.
    5. Ability to interact with the international musicological community and to keep updated with its current trends.
    6. Willingness to explore interdisciplinary approaches in order to make the best of the university's resources.
