Payment

All prices are in New Taiwan Dollars. Payment by credit card, cash or wire transfer is acceptable, but credit card payment will be more preferable.

The registration fee is based on the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). The exchange rate is approximately 32 NTD to 1 USD. For other currencies, please visit the Currency Converter at http://www.xe.net/ucc checking your currency vs. NTD.

Official submission date is based on Taiwan local time (GMT+8).

Cancellation and Refund Policy
-
All cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellations by telephone will not be accepted. A written notification of cancellation must be sent to the DAA VII conference secretariat by email ( daaseven@gmail.com) or by fax (+886-2-2363-8179).

Conference registration cancellations received prior to 24:00 Taipei Standard Time on 22nd May, 2008 will be eligible for a refund but are subject to a 25% administrative charge. Refunds will be made after the Conference has ended. Cancellations received after 24:00 Taipei Standard Time on 25th May, 2008 will not be refunded. Registrations may be transferred to another name without any penalty, but the DAA VII conference secretariat must be informed in writing.

If, for reasons beyond the control of the organizers, the Conference were to be cancelled, registration fees will be refunded except for any unavoidable administrative expenses.

Registration Desk

Upon arrival, please check-in at the Symposium registration desk located in the foyer of the conference centre at the HOWARD INTERNATIONAL HOUSE TAIPEI. Registration will start on Sunday 22 June at 15:30-18:00, Monday 23 June at a.m. 07:30-9:00. And the foyer will be opened everyday from 08:00 - 19:00.

Local Transportation
Taxi

Taxi is the most convenient way to travel within Taipei City. If you take taxi around Taipei downtown, it will cost less than 200NTD, starting with 70NTD. An additional 5NTD (approx. 0.15USD) will be charged for the first 1.2km and for each additional 300m or 2 minute thereafter.
MRT
-
The Metropolitan Rapid Transportation (MRT) system run by the city government provides the most convenient commuting service between downtown and suburban of Taipei. Five lines are in operation.

Taxi from Taipei Station to Howard International House Taipei is about 120NTD.

If you take the MRT Danshui-Xindian (green) line from Taipei Station to (Taipower Building Station), it will cost 20NTD, And Howard International House Taipei is only 1 kilometer from MRT Station.

Parking is complimentary at the Howard International House Taipei.

LU-Ming guest house NTU is in Nation Taiwan University Main Campus near Gongguan MRT Station Exit#2.

Hotel is located at Gongguan business circle which is in the west side of Taipei city and beside Nation Taiwan University.

Internet correspondence @ HIHT Library
The whole conference complex belongs to Civil Service Development Institute with a library on the third floor in the residence area in Howard International House which is in charge of all administration including conference, room service, etc. If you take the elevator to the third floor, turn right, and the library is just over there. There will be direction to the library. Please hand your DAA VII badge to the librarian and sign your name on sign-in list. You will get a badge in exchange which should be returned when you leave the library.
Service hour: 0830 ”V2030, Monday ”V Thursday; 0830-1800, Friday - Saturday.
A maximum load in the library is 20 persons each time. Please feel free to use the computers there for internet correspondence. You can only use g-mail and yahoo, no outlook. No charge for computer using and the internet service during the conference time. Please avoid the peak time at noon.

Taiwan enjoys a subtropical climate, with warm, mild weather the year round. The average temperature of Taipei during the Conference is 27.0 ¢J”ć 28.1¢J (or 80¢K ~ 82.6¢K) in June, 23¢J lowest”ć33¢J highest (or 73.6¢K lowest ~91¢K highest) with high humidity. There is always occasional shower in the afternoon. For more information on Taiwan's climate, please refer to the website of the Central Weather Bureau.
”½Currency
The Country”¦s currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). The current exchange rate is approximately NTD 30.3 USD 1 (June18, 2008, subject to change). Foreign currencies can be exchanged at hotels, airports* and a number of government-designated banks. Major credit cards are widely accepted, and traveler”¦s checks may be accepted by a number of tourist-oriented business and at most international tourist hotels and banks.
* There is no currency exchange after 21:30 in the bank of Taoyuan International Airport.
”½Tipping and Taxes
Tipping is not customary in most places in Taiwan . The one exception is tipping the bellboy when you check into a hotel. A 10% service charge and a 5% value-added tax are added to room rates and meals.
”½Electricity
110 Volts A.C. Taiwan uses electric current at 110 volts AC/60 Hz with two- ( in most cases )or three-prong USA-type sockets. Appliances from Europe, Australia or South-East Asia will need an adaptor or transformer. Many hotels also have sockets for 220-volt appliances.
”½Time Zone
Taiwan is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
