Welcome to Ko's Lab

Climate change is one of top important environmental problems that we need to face in the 21st century. We use species distribution modelling to explore the implementation and utilization of those models at different spatial scales and among different species, and to understand changes of species distributions, community assemblages and ecosystems under climate change. We aim to use these methods as a basis for assessing the interactions between organisms and their environment, the fate of biodiversity as well as the challenges in the fisheries management under global environmental change.

In addition, the impacts of climate change are extensive. We are a research group of both interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies, from a variety of aspects, including ecological, public health, social and cultural orientation, and economic assessment. We combine scientific research and application in climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies to enhance the resilience of natural system.

With the accumulation of knowledge, the scientific exploration, and the establishment of long-term observation stations, big data and database building have been emphasized and applied widely in recent years. Data are collected, stored, updated, identified, and further related and linked to decision-making and actions. We collect long-term databases and explore both the short-term variation and long-term trends in different ecosystems, and look forward to a better understanding of the process of ecosystem dynamics driven by human and nature, respectively.
