摘要 Abstract of the paper	This paper considers a vertically related industry by providing welfare implication on the interaction of free entry and input pricing strategy in the presence of passive partial forward ownership (PPFO). Our main findings suggest that PPFO may have either a positive or a negative effect on welfare, depending exclusively on the input pricing strategy. Under input uniform pricing, we demonstrate that the entry can be socially excessive when the level of PPFO is high, which leads welfare-decreasing as PPFO increase. Otherwise, it is welfare-increasing as PPFO increases. Under input price discrimination, an increase in PPFO intensifies the socially insufficient of entry, leading welfare-decreasing. This study highlights the policy implication by showing that the PPFO policy can be an instrument to increase the welfare. In particular, the policymaker should control PPFO even more when there is input price discrimination.
