摘要 Abstract of the Paper	This study investigates firms’ strategic decisions between passive and active ownership in a Cournot duopoly where they hold cross-shareholdings. The analysis demonstrates that the Nash equilibrium is jointly determined by the shareholding fraction and the magnitude of monitoring costs. Specifically, for a given level of monitoring costs, the equilibrium transitions from passive ownership to active ownership and subsequently reverts to passive ownership as the degree of cross-ownership increases. Notably, the findings suggest that higher shareholding fractions can enhance welfare, highlighting a nuanced relationship between ownership structure and societal outcomes.
