討論提要 |
We observe from the real world that in democratic countries
policies are made by citizens, either directly by citizens or indirectly by
legislators. While in the trade
and industrial organization literature, it is commonly assumed that
government acts as a benevolent dictator, setting policies in pursuit of
social welfare. By comparing the phenomenon
of real society and the literature, we observe that there is a gap in between
and thus we feel curious about the policy outcome in a democratic country. We derive the following two results
that the taste preference of the elected legislator may be different from
that of the median voter, and that the policy is the highest under the
decision mechanism of a benevolent dictator, followed by that of democratic
society, and then by that of laisser faire. |
