討論提要 |
Anderson and Neven (1991) show that the central agglomeration is a unique location equilibrium for n firms if firms play Cournot competition and discriminate over space in a linear city model, while Gupta et al. (2004) obtain multiple location equilibria in a circular city model. This paper utilizes a very similar framework to ANs’ model but with a slightly modified market-serving condition and take into consideration the stability conditions. It is shown that the multiple location equilibria do not emerge and the location equilibrium for n firms can be of either spatial dispersion or central agglomeration, depending on the magnitude of transport rates. Furthermore, this paper reduces a general pattern of the location equilibrium for an even and an odd number of firms, respectively. |
