討論提要 |
In Jackson (1997), treatment of
export subsidies in GATT/WTO is perplexing and controversial. Export
subsidies expand the volume of trade and enhance consumer welfare (warrant
encouragement). Such subsidies create “unfair” advantages, distort market
forces (therefore should be prohibited) |

結論 |
1.The primary
predictions of strategic-trade theory are not restricted to imperfectly
competitive markets. 2. These predictions emerge
in a natural three-country extension of the traditional theory of trade
policy in competitive markets, once the theory is augmented to allow for
politically motivated governments, so that the sign of export policy may be
converted from tax to subsidy. 3.This suggests that the
ongoing agricultural trade disputes may be best interpreted from the
perspective of strategic-trade theory. |
