討論提要	This paper challenges the result derived by Anderson and Neven (1991) (hereafter AN) and Hamilton et al. (1989) (hereafter HTW), which states that Cournot competition yields “unique” spatial agglomeration in a linear city model under linear and convex transportation cost functions. It arises from the fact that they give an inappropriate definition on the condition for serving the entire market.
結論	This paper shows that Cournot competition could yield spatial dispersion when transport cost is not “too convex” with two firms and when transport cost is linear with n firms. The results obtained in AN and HTW are special cases when the transport cost is sufficiently low in this paper..
延伸研究	1. Extend the study to the case when the condition for serving the entire market is released. 2. Check the stability conditions for the five-firm case.
